Relaxing, Releasing, Rebalancing, Restorative
A fun, playful and experiential workshop for anyone who wants to reawaken, explore or develop their creative side – in any area of their life! No artistic experience is required.
As adults, we don’t often make time to relax, create and have fun, simply for its own sake, but this can be a deeply uplifting, nourishing and therapeutic experience.
Using oil pastels, coloured pencils, paint, collage or mixed media, you will have the chance to play, create and experiment with different media, colours, patterns and ideas – in a safe and supportive environment.
The workshops will be co-run by Silvie (an experienced therapist) and Clare (a professional artist/art teacher), combining their joint interests in creative expression, healing and personal development.
What do Creative Play workshops involve?
Workshops will begin with a short guided mediation or relaxation technique to help calm the mind, connect to the present moment and allow you to drop into a space of stillness, openness and receptivity. We will then suggest some simple and fun warm-up exercises to help you naturally connect to the creative/intuitive/right side of your brain and begin to experiment…
Next, we’ll introduce some specific themes for the group to focus on, such as: playing with colours; paint your own mandala; shapes and swirls; patterns from nature; light and shade. This is a chance for you to really explore, experiment, try out new things, take some risks and have fun! Imagine being a child again, enjoying the process of creating with no concern for the finished product. There is no right or wrong way to create!
There will be time to reflect on your creative process afterwards, followed by an optional sharing/discussion about your experiences.
Creative Play workshops last for 2.5 hours. All the materials will be provided so all you need to bring is yourself, some comfortable clothing that doesn’t mind a bit of paint and a bottle of water to keep hydrated.
